The capital of Craft beer

Slovaks enjoy their beer time very much especially on the sunny terraces in Bratislava. Most of the bars in the city pour the Slovak Zlaty Bažant (which means golden pheasant). However, a microbrewery revolution started after it has been sold to Heineken.

In 2019 the country counts more than 60 micro-brands, each trying to reach their vision of perfection. Like wine or whisky, beer can be made with several techniques ending up with plenty of different tastes. That’s why we decided to create our own beer tasting in Bratislava with professional explanations. All beers are made in Slovakia to promote local economy. Just add a pub crawl in Bratislava and select “craft beers” as an option.

  • Unorthodox brewing is a small daring brewery. Their love for beer is just as strong as their beers’ character. Our favorite is the Mariachi – salt and sour.
  • Erb is an upscale brewery based in Banská Štiavnica, a beautiful town located in the middle of Slovakia. You can taste their beer in Bratislava in just a few venues like the Antique American bar.
  • Pilsner Urquell is a Czech beer but one of the best “big brand” in the world. Many bars in Bratislava serve it fresh.
